Cycling the World

Vienna - Zagreb

I stayed a whole week in Vienna. The first few days, friends of Marvin from Latvia stayed with him as well and we had a nice time together. I visited a few museums but they are really expensive in this city.

Schönbrunn Palace - Vienna
St. Stephen's Cathedral - Vienna

Marvin and I took a day trip to Bratislava, Slovakia. The day ticket for the train cost only 16 € and it only took about an hour to get there. We explored the city and went up to the castle, from which we had a great view over the city.

Marvin accompanied me in the best weather, 35 km out of Vienna. After a nice break we said goodbye and he went back home. I continued on to my host, Rita. She welcomed me warmly and we sat in the kitchen for quite some time and talked about traveling. Thank you very much Rita for all the info.

The next day I rode along the border between Austria and Hungary. I crossed the border between the two countries several times until I spend the night under a lookout tower in Strem. That was the last night in the German-speaking world and from now on I can’t read or understand a word.

St. Markus Church - Zagreb

I woke up again in glorious weather to continue my journey. That day I cycled in four different countries: Austria, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia. So I’m already at Country Six on my journey.

After two days, I reach Zagreb, Croatia. I explore the city on foot and spend the Easter holidays in a hostel.

Croatian National Theater - Zagreb

The traditional walk on Easter Sunday is of course a must. To celebrate the day, I also treated myself to the chocolate bunny, which has been living in my bag for a few days now. Happy Easter!

Frohe Ostern!
